Windermere Golf Club – Golf In The Lake District – Cumbria
The Lake District is an inspiring area of natural beauty that offers an enormous range of relaxing and rejuvenating experiences. With breathtaking mountains, sparkling lakes and a changing coastline it has the best walking, cycling and climbing routes England can offer.
Windermere Golf Club, one of only 2 golf clubs within the Lake District National Park, blends in to the magnificent landscape of the surrounding fells and peaks. It gives players some wonderful 360 degree panoramic views from Morecambe Bay in the south round to Coniston Old Man in the west, then on to the Langdales, followed by the Fairfield Horseshoe before sweeping round to High Street in the North East and then the Pennines in the east.
There is so much to do in the Lake District - Cumbria for golfers and their non golfing partners. This is the country's biggest adventure playground and it's breathtaking, in every sense of the word. We have activities to suit all interests and abilities, and exploring the great outdoors you'll discover some of the UK's most beautiful scenery along with a wealth of flora and fauna.
In addition to the stunning natural environment, there is also another side to The Lake District that may surprise you.
You can visit award-winning attractions, from the well-loved homes of William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter to relaxing lake cruises and romantic steam train journeys. Enjoy relaxed shopping in pretty market towns and take home a little bit of Cumbria. Tuck into mouth-watering local produce like scrumptious sticky toffee pudding or decadent damson gin. Engage with the county’s colourful programme of unique events, such as acclaimed theatre productions, literature festivals and local farmers’ markets. Or you can explore the county’s heritage – be captivated by the magic of ancient stone circles, stand guard on Hadrian’s Wall or marvel at days gone by in noble castles and historic houses.
And to complement all that there is to do and see, The Lake District is also bursting at the seams with quality places to stay to suit all tastes and pockets. Get together with friends in a cosy self-catering cottage, treat someone special to a night in a stylish hotel or get away from it all in a snug B&B. A warm welcome always awaits you.
By the way, as The Cumbria Union celebrates it’s Centenary in 2010 we have a great tradition of Golf in Cumbria. So if you are tempted to test your skills by playing a number of different courses there are 33 recognised clubs that are part of the Cumbria Union of Golf clubs so you have a wide selection for your visit to this wonderful area.
