Seniors Section (WAGGS)

The "WAGGS" - Windermere Aged Gentlemen’s Golf Society – was formed in 1989 and has become a highly social, active and valued group within the Club, comprising well over 90 members. Any male club member of 55+ years may join.

WAGGS membership

New members of the WAGGS can always be assured of receiving a warm welcome. If you are 55+ and would like to join, please contact any of the society officers, the club office, or indeed ask anyone who looks old enough – he’s sure to be a member! Membership is £5.00 pa.The WAGGS Notice board is immediately on the right-hand entrance wall when entering the men’s locker room from the course. Information on up-coming competitions and event dates can be found either on the WAGGS notice board or on the central notice board in the club main entrance.

WAGGS Competitions
The WAGGS have an active schedule of competitions and trophies to play for in Summer and in Winter there is an ever popular weekly “roll-up” from the beginning of October until the end of March, where each player gets to play with different members by drawing lots.

Trophies and mementos for the winners of competitions are presented at WGC’s Mens Section prize-giving evening in November.

WAGGS Matches
The WAGGS play a selection of Cumbrian and Lancashire clubs both home and away during the summer months. There is great friendly rivalry in these matches, with a meal to conclude each event.
Selection is by application (not merit) in keeping with the society’s ethos, although we do like winners to apply!
Two matches are played internally within the Club. One against the Juniors (August), and one against the Ladies (September). The latter is held in conjunction with a lunch and is very popular.
